Page + Steele Architects Planners, formerly known as Page and Steele, was an architectural partnership with Forsey Pemberton B. Page (1885–1970) and W. Harland Steele (1900–1996) in Toronto, Ontario. The architectural company was founded in 1926 and is now a part of the IBI Group of architectural and engineering firms.
Page was born in Toronto and attended St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario, as well as the University of Toronto. In 1925, he joined the architectural company of Page & Steele as a partner. He was also a Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and Royal Academy of Arts Fellow. He was President of the Ontario Association of Architects from 1934 to 1935; Chancellor of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s College of Fellows from 1952 to 1955; and Senator of the University of Toronto from 1950 to 1954.
Harland Steele, who was also born in Toronto, earned a Bachelor of Architecture and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was a partner in the firm of Page & Steele from 1926 to 1965. Steele was also a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was President of the Ontario Association of Architects in 1960.
Page + Steele Architects Planners has a reputation for residential design, with practices in Hong Kong, the Middle East, and Prague, as well as broad competence in retail, residential, hotel, and office design. The firm has earned numerous Canadian and worldwide commissions for some of North America’s top developers. The company continued to focus on high-quality designs and projects that have resulted in winning over 24 design prizes and competing in various design competitions.
