Baghai Development Limited was created in January 1976 to develop high class, unique residences, on prime grounds owned by Shane Baghai. Within five years, Baghai Development Ltd. was known all across Greater Toronto for their exceptional planned and constructed bespoke houses. Within two years of its inception, the business had acquired property in North York and Markham. Many prominent neighborhoods were developed and, as the company’s reputation increased, many people felt secure enough to buy their new houses from drawings alone.
Baghai Development Limited was one of the first firms to register with the Ontario New Home Warranty Program and has maintained a “Excellent” rating for the last seventeen years. Shane was on the board of directors of the Toronto Home Builders Association for five years and oversaw numerous important committees. Shane Baghai has earned multiple honors, including the ONHWP Builder of the Year for 1998 and Regional Builder for 1999; the ONHWP President Award for each year from 1998 to 2000; and the GTHBA 2000 SAM Award for The Residence at Avondale, for which he was responsible. Shane Baghai has been nominated a record five times (and won four times) for the Ontario New Home Warranty Program’s Ernest Assaly Builder of the Year Awards, the most prestigious accolade and definitive recommendation guide for new home purchasers. In appreciation of his passion and contribution to the new home industry, Shane Baghai was admitted into the GTHBA Hall of Fame on January 30, 2002.
In addition to assisting the new home construction business, Shane Baghai has garnered numerous important honors for his excellent commitment to the public sector. The list of accomplishments includes serving as North York Mayor’s “Goodwill” Ambassador to Hong Kong (1991-1994), receiving the University of Toronto Arbor Award in 1997-1998, being a Fellow of the Institution of British Engineers since 1973, and sponsoring the Princess Margaret Hospital fundraising campaign.
