Anthem is a real estate development, investment, and investment firm founded in 1991 by Eric Carlson, with a portfolio of 14,600 residences in various stages of development, 5 million square feet of commercial property, and over 5,000 acres of land planned for development.
Anthem evolved in seven years from a team of 15 and 10 projects to a business of 45 projects across Alberta, Ontario, and the United States, from its initial focus on land acquisition and multi-family residential construction. Its product line expanded to encompass offices, retail, and residential homes. They work hard. They work smart. They work in teams. They challenge the status quo and have fun doing it. They believe in growing their employees so that they may be the best that they can be. They are a varied group of over 450 people that are motivated by enthusiasm, results, and open communication.
Anthem launched on the Toronto Stock Exchange in March 1998. However, due to the stock market’s instability, this proved not to be in the company’s best interests. Anthem was reincorporated as a private company in May 2004. Anthem has expanded from 100 to 400 employees since then, owing to the extent and complexity of its activities, as well as the acquisitions of United Communities, GBD Communities, and Premier United Communities in 2014.
Anthem believes that budget-constrained administrations cannot handle community challenges of all kinds. Private-sector financial and ingenuity contributions can help make the world a better place faster. Anthem seeks to make a difference by supporting community organizations such as Homework Club, Project Chef, and Street Home, as well as sponsorships such as its long-standing support of three-time Canadian Olympian, Georgia Simmerling.
