David Bela Salomon established Preston Group in the 1960s under the name Gonte Construction Limited. David, a Holocaust survivor born in 1927 in Chmielnik, Poland, relocated to Toronto with his family to establish a new life after the war. In the 1960s, David and his associates constructed a large number of rental flats in Toronto, mainly in the Flemingdon Park district with its many high-rise structures.
As the city expanded, low-rise, master-planned districts were developed to concentrate the building sector. Gonte Construction, which is now known as Preston Group, developed land in Newmarket, Brampton, Oshawa, Courtice, King City, and East Gwillimbury.
Preston Apartments was rebranded as Preston Living in June 2020. The Preston Living brand perfectly symbolizes the experience and way of life to which Preston residents are accustomed. The Preston Group of Companies has over 60 years of management and development expertise spanning three generations. Preston Group is poised for growth now that the second and third generations are in charge of Development and Property Management.
