Windmill Development Group

Windmill aspires to revolutionize how people construct and live. Jonathan Westeinde and a group of like-minded practitioners and intellectuals established Windmill Developments in 2003. Like a tech startup, Windmill intended to challenge the status quo. Their team thought that real estate development was ripe for innovation and had the perfect chance to make a significant difference in the battle against climate change. They continue to believe this, but their thinking has developed. They are not only seeking improvement. Their goal is One Planet Living, which entails co-creating regenerative communities. Communities in which people and environment coexist in harmony and mutual benefit.
This is more than “sustainable” living; it is a systemic approach that renews all life dynamically. One Planet Living is a comprehensive framework and a vision for sustainable living. As the name implies, it is based on the reality that they have just one planet with limited resources.
One Planet Living’s mission is to assist all individuals in living happy, healthy lives within the limited resources of their planet. The first Windmill project, Victoria’s innovative Dockside Green, provided the groundwork for a construction revolution. Dockside Green is the first LEED Platinum for Communities development in Canada. Since then, they have continued to innovate and push the limits of sustainability in all of their endeavours. Here are a few instances of the innovative projects that they have started over the years.
