Menkes Developments Ltd. and Core Development Group, two notable GTA developers, saw an opportunity to transform Filmore’s Hotel, a property with a long history with the City of Toronto, into Elektra Condos while preserving it as a dynamic place to live!

Elektra Condos is a new mixed-use high-rise condominium building in Toronto with 588 units spread across 46 stories. The plans will be a combination of one-bedroom, one-bedroom with a den, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom configurations.

The project, which is now in the preconstruction phase, is expected to be completed in 2025 and will be located at 212 Dundas Street East in Toronto’s Garden District district.

Menkes Developments Ltd. and Core Development Group recently acquired Filmore’s Hotel and want to maintain the current building with its 20th Century Edwardian style architecture and construct on top of it, combining the aspects of old and modern.

According to Elektra Condos renderings, the Filmore’s Hotel will be preserved, with seven more stories added above it. A podium will likely hold shops and office space, while the rest of the building will accommodate residents.

The developers have collaborated with Giannone Petricone Architects, one of the city’s most well-known and recognized architects, as well as interior designer Figure3, to create a new landmark that will bring many residential units to the region.
