Another pair of towers will soon break into the local skyline as the Midtown Square development is filled with park towers north of Sudan Avenue, which is already home to two mid-20th century apartment buildings. Dunfield Avenue and Holly Street on the east and west, respectively.
The developer Plaza’s project began in the spring of 2019. It will add a pair of 27-story and 34-story apartment towers designed by BDP Quadrangle next to the existing 14-story rental buildings. The shaping of the three-story underground parking garage is coming to an end at the S-shaped site, and the latest photos show that the first shaping of the project is taking place on the ground.
The 27-story tower of the complex is now rising to the south of the existing Holly Street rental building, in which the shaping of the ground floor is in full swing, and the first work in the form of a two-story floor has begun.
The 34-story tower will soon appear north of the existing Dunfield Building, and now its ground floor is forming to prepare it to climb the skyline. Facing the interior of the site, continue to form the P1 parking floor of the garage, and the work of the site will soon be completely up to or above the ground.
Plaza Midtown will bring 545 new units to the neighborhood and in the future will join a planned 1550 square meter city park facing the northwest corner of Soudan and Dunfield.
Meanwhile, another development plan for Plazacorp in Midtown is under way, and they recently worked with Firm Capital, the owner of a rental building on the southeast corner of Yonge Street and Woodlawn Avenue. The redevelopment of 1233 Yonghe Street and 9 Woodlawn Avenue will replace existing rental buildings with a new mixed-use development that includes apartments and rental units, as well as a retail store on the ground floor facing Yonghe Street. Plaza’s goal is to apply for official planning and zoning amendments in the autumn to redevelop the site.
