Since March 2017, the average price of a detached house in Wanjin has exceeded C $1.7 million. Close to 16th Street to the south, the Angus Glen community built around York Downs Golf course is a well-known mansion in Wanjin. At present, the price of a separate house with two garages is more than 2.5 million.

But today, a preliminary plan for the renovation of residential buildings at the York Downs Golf Club golf course in the Angus Glen mansion has been unveiled. One of Canada’s most famous golf courses will be converted into 2400 houses. The application for this plan is still in the preliminary stage, and a hearing will be held at 7: 00 p.m. on April 5 at Wanjin City Hall to listen to the views of all parties.

According to the York District website, the entire York Downs Golf course covers an area of 417 acres, with a development area of more than 300 acres.

In late April 2015, members of The Golf Club of, York Downs issued a statement saying that the asking price of C $400 million offered by four major developers, including: Kylemore Communities, Angus Glen Developments, Pace Developments and Metropia and Empire Communities, was so attractive that more than 12 million members voted to sell 82 per cent of the site to the developer. In this way, each member has more than 200,000 more income in his pocket.

Nearly two years after the golf course was sold to the developer, the developer submitted a preliminary renovation plan to convert 311mu (169ha) of the golf course into 2400 houses.

Although the project is still under review, 2400 homes, once completed, will add at least 5000 people, and the already congested 16th Street is bound to become more congested. For the Chinese in Wanjin, it is a big news that we have to pay attention to.
