Liberty Developments Corporation is currently proposing a huge redevelopment project that will not only boost population density in the neighborhood, but will also create a new dynamic Thornhill community where inhabitants can live, work, and play. This huge and ambitious building will have direct access to the Promenade Shopping Centre, which will feature more than 150 businesses, including a grocery store and a theater. This new condo building project will be constructed in stages. The first phase will be a large project in and of itself, with a total of 497 residential units.

Neighborhood

The Fountains Phase 2 project involves repurposing the vast parking area that surrounds the mall. This was previously an important use of land, but it is now utterly underused in a city that is making a determined effort to develop vertically. These buildings will transform this concrete region into a new vibrant community.

Transportation

Residents that must commute have a variety of choices for getting around the area. This community will be within a short distance from Finch Station, which will link travelers to the Toronto Subway System. Finch is a 15-minute bus ride or drive away.

This is due to The Fountains Phase 2’s location at the crossroads of several of the city’s major routes. Drivers may easily connect to Highway 404 to the east, which also becomes the Don Valley Parkway. This serves as one of the main entrances to the city of Toronto and connects to the Gardiner Expressway, which runs along the city’s waterfront. From here, you may also access Highway 401. The 401 is commonly regarded as the most important roadway in North America, transporting thousands of vehicles to their destinations every day. If you don’t mind paying tolls, you may also take the 407 route.

Amenities

The two buildings will rise from a common 7-story platform, reaching heights of up to 18 stories. These first two buildings contain over 497 condominiums separated into one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. The unified apartment sizes range from 420 to 1637 square feet.

The developer hopes to reduce the neighborhood’s dependency on vehicles by changing the area surrounding the mall. Together with the existing mall and the new office tower, the residential towers will provide a complete and well-rounded community in which people can live, work, and play. The Fountains Phase 2 will also make the neighborhood much more walkable, since people will be able to walk from their homes to a retail center and maybe even to work.
