On Thursday, Greybrook Realty Partners Inc. announced the passing of founder Elias Vamvakas at age 65. Vamvakas had been battling pancreatic cancer for a long time.

He will be deeply missed, but his principles and intentions will live on, guiding our business decisions and honouring his spirit of entrepreneurship, partnership, and doing what is right.”
The founder immigrated from Greece to Canada back in 1966 and started as a salesperson at London Life Insurance Company. His next significant role was the President of Creative Planning Financial Group.
Brief History of Elias Vamvakas
Vamvakas founded Greybrook over 20 years ago. Over the period, the firm has established its name as one of the leading Toronto-based private equity firms with a focus on real estate and healthcare.
Prior to Greybrook, Elias co-founded TLCVision (NASDAQ/TLCV, TSX/TLC) where he served as President and CEO. Elias, as CEO, built TLC into the largest eye care service provider organization in North America with revenues of more than $300,000,000.
Elias was the Chairman and founder of Greybrook. He was also Chairman of Greenbrook TMS NeuroHealth Centers (TSX: GTMS), the leading provider of TMS Therapy in North America.
The company recalls Vamvakas as a “visionary leader whose entrepreneurial spirit and dedication laid the foundation for Greybrook”.
