But when the property market heats up and comes to the seller’s market, developers will not offer so many “discounts”.
However, some developers just want to “do the opposite”. When the local property market rebounded, they launched a “buy a house to send a car” activity, and it was sent to Tesla.
On Sept. 13, Canadian real estate developer Century Group announced that as long as he buys a property for a specific project, he will receive Tesla Model 3 worth 55000 US dollars:
“every time we buy a Viridian townhouse, we give away a Tesla for free!”
Century Group’s anxious “inventory” project, Viridian, was completed in early 2018 and consists of 57 townhouses located on the Nicomekl River in the South Surrey community.
In the project, the townhouse starts at C $1.0899 million (US $826000).
CenturyGroup’s “buy a house and get a car free” promotion has suddenly pushed up the competition among local developers by several levels. After all, before that, Vancouver developers offered only wine and avocado toast.
According to the latest report from the Greater Vancouver area Real Estate Board (REBGV), residential sales in the area totaled 2231 units in August 2019, up 15.7% from a year earlier and down 12.7% from a month earlier.
On the price side, the composite benchmark price of various types of houses for sale in the region fell to C $993300 in August, down 0.2 per cent from the previous month. In June, the benchmark price fell below the C $1 million round mark for the first time since May 2017.
Ashley Smith, president of REBGV, believes that compared with the first half of this year, home sales in July and August have returned to historical normal levels.
