But Wen ranked 46th on the list of the most livable cities in Canada published on Monday by MoneySense, a Canadian financial magazine. The ranking compares 209 Canadian cities with indicators such as the affordability of housing prices, the income level of citizens and the unemployment rate.
In 2014, the The Economist magazine ranked Wenshi as the third most livable city in the world and at the top of the list in North America. The criteria include health care, infrastructure, living environment and education, but do not include the affordability of housing. By contrast, MoneySense takes the affordability of housing as an important indicator. Other indicators include employment, crime eucalyptus rates, climate, health care, and household income levels.
According to these indicators, Wenshi fell from 39th in 2014 to 46th this year.
According to the 2014 Mercer cost of living Survey (Mercer’s Cost of Living Survey), Wenshi’s cost of living index ranks first in Canada. High house prices affect the residents of Wenzhou. Compared with other Canadian cities, first-time home buyers need support from their parents, which is most common in Wenzhou.
Mark Brown, executive editor of MoneySense, pointed out that Wenzhou has a low rating in terms of unemployment, income levels and housing affordability.
With regard to soaring house prices in Wenzhou, the Wenzhou government may impose a speculative tax on housing, but Liang Dongcai, a member of the Ma Bao residents Union (Marpole Residents Coalition), believes that government measures to control house prices are necessary, but they are not easy to implement.
North Wen made it into the top ten list.
District of North Vancouver, on the north bank of Wenzhou, has made it into the top 10 this year, jumping from 25th last year to 9th this year (see table). The main factors contributing to the rise in the North temperate region rankings include low unemployment, high income, low tax rates, low crime eucalyptus rates, convenient bus services, and communities with artistic characteristics.
The second place of Kacheng fell to 19th this year.
Becoming the most livable city in Canada this year is Boucherville, Quebec. According to Brown’s analysis, Buscheville’s main factors at the top of the Canadian list include low unemployment, high income, affordable housing, stable population growth, and communities with artistic characteristics. Buscheville, located on the outskirts of Mandike, has only 43000 residents, ranking sixth last year.
The city of Kagali in Asia, which topped the list two years ago, fell slightly to second last year, but fell to 19th this year. “MoneySense” pointed out that the top ten places in Kacheng this year show that the advantages of traditional living conditions in the West Bank have undergone a sudden change.
