With the construction of M City, Rogers’s long legacy in Mississauga will continue. Ted Rogers acquired 43 hectares of property in Mississauga in the 1960s for the placement of transmitters for one of his early businesses, radio station CHFI. CHFI remains Toronto’s most popular radio station. In the early 1990s, when the transmitters were moved, Ted held the property and “sold the most of it to house builders.” In 2002, the present site was rezoned to allow for a larger range of land uses, including greater residential construction.
